Thematic Areas

In order to facilitate effective promotion of Conservation Agriculture (CA) principles and practices in Africa and beyond, this thematic area focuses on development of appropriate strategies and mechanisms for effective and efficient adoption and scaling up of conservation agriculture. In this regard and considering the need to contribute significantly to the attainment of the overall Network purpose, the adoption and scaling up of conservation agriculture thematic area focuses on the following broad intervention strategies:

  1. Development and promotion of appropriate approaches, methods and tools for scaling up conservation agriculture.
  2. Strengthening farmer institutions and service providers to participate effectively in scaling up of conservation agriculture.

In order to facilitate effective promotion of Conservation Agriculture (CA) principles and practices in Africa and beyond, this thematic area focuses on promotion of appropriate Conservation Agriculture (CA) technologies and innovations for sustainable land management and climate change resilience. In this regard and considering the need to contribute significantly to the attainment of the overall Network purpose, the sustainable land management and climate change resilience thematic area focuses on the following broad intervention strategies:

  1. Promotion of conservation agriculture in sustainable land management.
  2. Promotion of conservation agriculture in climate change adaptation.
  3. Promotion of conservation agriculture in climate change mitigation.

In order to facilitate effective promotion of Conservation Agriculture (CA) principles and practices in Africa and beyond, this thematic area focuses on development of the required capacities and partnership arrangements. In this regard and considering the need to contribute significantly to the attainment of the overall Network purpose, the capacity building, networking and partnerships thematic area focuses on the following broad intervention strategies:

  1. Strengthening of institutional, individual and community capacities for uptake and utilization of conservation agriculture.
  2. Establishment and management of beneficial partnerships and strategic alliances.

The successful implementation of the technical thematic areas of focus depends largely on the establishment and operationalization of effective and efficient network management and support functions at its Headquarters and replicate it at sub-regional offices. In view of this and considering the need to be effective and efficient, ACT has developed and adopted a style of leadership and management which allows a diverse group of highly trained and potentially creative individuals to work individually and collectively to achieve the Network and programme goals and objectives. In order to contribute significantly to the attainment of the network's purpose, the network management and support functions thematic area focuses on the following intervention strategies:

  1. Strengthening the Network financial resources mobilization and management.
  2. Strengthening the human resource development and management.
  3. Improvement of the administration and procurement services, procedures and processes.
  4. Strengthening Network corporate governance systems, processes and services.
