ACT endeavours to foster and strengthen vibrant networks of stakeholders in Conservation Agriculture (CA) as a means to accelerate its spread and adoption in Africa. As a first step ACT in collaboration with stakeholders are establishing global-spanning Communities of Practice (CoP) that bring together diversity of thought and best-bet interventions.
The CA CoP for Academia and Researchers (CA COPAR), organized by ACT and stakeholders, held its inaugural meeting in Nakuru Kenya in October 2012. Attended by 33 academicians and researchers from 12 African and European countries, participants resolved (amongst others) to develop the platform for networking and information sharing on CA; organize regular e-forums, task forces to address researchable CA issues; embrace e-Learning; and formulate a strategic and operational plan for the CA COPAR. The proceedings, available on request, will be posted in the CA COPAR portal of the revamped ACT website in February 2013.
Other CA Communities of Practice (CA-CoP) to be hosted and facilitated by ACT include:
- CA CoP for Farmers and Farmer Organizations
- CA CoP for CA Equipment Manufacturers and Suppliers
- CA CoP for Policy makers
- CA CoP for Women and Youths in Agriculture
Anyone working or interested in CA and related areas is invited and welcome to join and utilize the platform through links to be shared soon.
