Advancing The Operationalization Of The Framework For Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization In Africa

The meeting will contribute to increase the visibility of the SAMA Framework, further disseminate it and create synergies to support its operationalization at AUC, RECs and country level and allow a fresh start on mechanization in the twenty-first century. In particular, the meeting will promote regional cooperation that will aim to:

  • Review the current situation at the regional and country level including innovative efforts to promote and expedite sustainable agricultural mechanization (SAM) along the food value chain in SSA

  • Enhance the visibility of the SAMA Framework and create synergies for expediting SAM, especially enhancing collaboration while targeting small-scale farmers

  • Share mechanisms and pathways that could be used to spearhead the operationalization of the SAMA Framework and agree on additional support and develop a roadmap that countries could use to formulate/develop their SAM strategies

  • Foster cooperation among supporting countries and RECs to develop action plans to accelerate use of SAM in the transformation of agriculture

    The meeting will take place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 23 and 24 May 2019 and the proposed venue is the African Union Headquarters. Read More
