
An invitation is extended to all agricultural professionals and commercial farmers to attend AusQuest farms annual field day on Thursday the 13th of July 2017.The day will feature various crop walks discussing Mung Beans (Green Grams) Desi and kabuli chickpeas (Chana), forage Sorghum/Sudan Grass, Black Grams, Yellow Beans, Finger Millet, various biological trials of Mycorrhizae, Trichoderma, seed applied and in furrow.
10am to 11am Tea and coffee at AusQuest’s office/workshop
11am to 1pm Field visit, looking at commercial trials, agronomic presentations, our main speaker with be agronomist Peter Schuurs from Australia (living in Uganda)
1pm to 2pm Lunch (provided)
2pm to 2.30pm Presentation from Prof Patrick Lumumba
2.30pm to 3.30pm field visit looking at Desi and Kabuli Chickpeas agronomy
3.30pm to 4.30 demonstration and discussion silage making in 50kg vacuum sealed bags
Directions, travel time from Central Nairobi is approximately 1.5 hours (approx. 50 km from CBD).
From Nairobi travel on the Mombasa Road heading towards Mombasa, travel approximately 8/9 km after crossing the Athi River Bridge, (remaining on the Mombasa road) look for the “AusQuest Field day” sign on the side of the road on your Left.
You will be turning off the Mombasa road to the right around 100 meters after you pass the “AusQuest Field day” sign, enter through the “Small World Club” gate, continue for 700 meters, enter the manned gate then follow the “AusQuest” signs for around 9km to the farm. (You will be driving across a wildlife conservancy for approximately 9 km)
NOTE ; If you have come to Simba/National cement on the Mombasa road then you have gone about 1km too far.
