The Brussels Development briefing No 43, South to South Cooperation will take place on the 27th October this year in Brussels, with the title, “Emerging donors and rising powers in agriculture in the ACP countries. The briefing will address key challenges and opportunities in South- South Cooperation in the agriculture sector and the lessons learnt from research and practice. The objectives of the briefing are to;
- Review success and lessons learnt from research and practice in South-South and Triangular Cooperation.
- Promote the exchange of information on best practices and sustainable partnerships
- Examine various perspectives on policy options
The panelists to this year’s policy briefing include, the African Conservation Tillage Network, Kenya. Executive Secretary, Engineer Saidi Mkomwa, who will be discussing Triangular cooperation in support of Conservation Agriculture, he will also discuss the successes and challenges of Conservation Agriculture in Africa.

This presentation will set the scene and frame the debate. It will also discuss the evolving cooperation model as a result of developments in the Chinese development policy.

This presentation will discuss best practices of cooperation developed by Brazil and Africa on agriculture and agribusiness (i.e. increased market access, technology transfer, capacity building) and triangular cooperation cases which illustrate win-win situations.
Denghua Zhang, Researcher, State, Society and Governance in Melanesia Program Coral Bell -Working with China in the Pacific: prospects for trilateral cooperation
This presentation will share insights on China’s development agricultural aid trends and the prospects of cooperation of China with the Pacific islands. It should illustrate some or existing successes in South-South and/or triangular cooperation.

This presentation will highlight the important role played by the private sector with regards to investments and partnerships between Africa, Asia and Europe. IT will highlight successes and win-win situations which illustrate new opportunities for establishing inclusive PPPs.

This presentation will introduce the experience of the triangular cooperation through the PAA, a programme developed by Brazil, DFID and FAO to promote access to food and support family farming.
