Hosted by the African Conservation Tillage Network in Kenya and Tanzania, a high level Ethiopian delegation is on a week-long study tour to Kenya and Tanzania to study best
practices on Conservation Agriculture and the wider Climate Smart Agricultural initiatives. The tour sites include visits to CA large scale farmers,
CA small scale farmers, CA service providers and Community Conservation initiatives to learn and share experiences on best practices in the region. Courtesy calls have been paid to the Agricultural Government ministries and to the County officials to discuss issues of mutual interest on Sustainable Land Management and how these can be replicated and up-scaled.
The Government of Ethiopia and its development allies recognize that in order to mitigate the challenges in SLM, the Ethiopian Sustainable Land Management Investment Framework (ESIF) was developed by the then Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in the year 2010, with the aim of providing a comprehensive framework under which all stakeholders and actors in Sustainable Land Management (SLM) could collaborate effectively
Based on such initiatives by the Ethiopian Government, a delegation composed of Ministry Officials from the Ethiopian Ministry of Agriculture and the Sustainable land Management program will share their experiences with farmers and CA providers in Kenya and Tanzania as well as under- study best practices on sustainable land management practices.
