Saidi Mkomwa is a Conservation Agriculture advocate in Africa with over 30 years’ experience in rural agriculture training, research and development. He is the Executive Director of the African Conservation Tillage Network (ACT) www.act-africa.org; a pan-African organization promoting through networking and partnerships, the adaptation and adoption of Conservation Agriculture (CA) since 2008.
Saidi is a member of the International Steering Committee on CA which organizes the World Congresses; a professional registered practicing engineer; and sits in the COMESA Joint Technical Committee on Agriculture, Environment and Natural Resources.
Saidi’s research and development interests include empowerment of smallholder farmers with entrepreneurial skills and environmental friendly technologies for food security and wealth creation based on land resources endowment.
Saidi holds an MSc in agricultural engineering from the University of Guelph Canada and a BSc in engineering from the University of Dar es salaam. He worked as an Agricultural Engineering Researcher and Tutor with Ministry of Agriculture in Tanzania before joining ACT.
