Welcome to CA-SARD II Project Site!

The Conservation Agriculture for Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development (CA for SARDII) with project symbol GCP/RAF/413/GER was a government of the Federal Republic of German funded project, executed by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) with total funding amounting to US$ 2,459,342 for a duration of three years (July 2007 to March 2011). The project was implemented in two countries namely Kenya and Tanzania with Ministry of Agriculture taking the country implementation lead through their respective Research institutions namely Kenya Agricultural Research Institute (KARI) for Kenya and Selian Agricultural Research Institute (SARI) based in Arusha for the United Republic of Tanzania.Read More

Project Partners

During implementation of this project FAO-Kenya has closely collaborated with a number of organization including the Ministry of Agriculture (both for Kenya and Tanzania), Kenya Agricultural Research Institute (KARI), Selian Agricultural Research Institute (SARI), African Conservation Tillage Network (ACT), IAPAR,  FAPEAGRO –Brazil, NGOs, Large scale farmers, FFS Networks, Private equipment hirers and Local CA equipment manufacturers

Project Interventions and Process

The CA-SARDII project was implemented through Farmer Field School Approach, whereby this approach has empowered farmers and strengthened the base for CA advancement and networking among farmers promoting CA technologies.
